Introduction to Western Art History
Course Description
A chronological survey of Western art and architecture, including the ancient Near East, Europe from antiquity to the present, and North America from the colonial period to the present. The course emphasizes major historical and cultural developments, analyzes key art works and monuments, and introduces basic art historical principles and analytical methods. The course is offered at the 100 and 300 levels, with additional reading and writing assigned at the 300 level.
Not open to students with credit in HA 150, HA 151, HA 160, HA 161, or HA 300.
HA 100/300
Intended for non-majors. Does not count toward the 30 required hours in the major.
