Garden Culture of Japan & China

This course raises issues inherent in constructed natural environments, through study of the cultural beliefs and design aesthetics of the classical gardens of Japan and China. Students will present directed research on existing gardens and plants, discuss scholarly literature on the history of gardens, and design their own imaginary garden.
