Biography —
Sadie Arft specializes in northern European art from the medieval and early modern periods, particularly tapestries and prints. Her dissertation situates the development of game park tapestry design in the broader contexts of Flemish visual culture, the Eighty Years’ War, and early modern fascination with natural history and foreign cultures. Additionally, her research addresses the multilayered nature of tapestry production, and how artists, weavers, and patrons each inform designs as well as the reuse and reformulation of cartoons.
