Biography

Xiaoyi Huang is an MA student in the East Asian art history program at the University of Kansas. Her research interest lies in premodern Chinese art, especially the Han-Tang Dynasties period (202 BCE - 907), funerary art, tombs, and site museums. She is particularly interested in exploring visual representations in tombs, with a focus on the construction of female power, roles, and space within ancient Chinese tombs.

Before joining KU, she completed a Master of Arts Curatorship at the University of Melbourne. Her previous research explored the topic of tomb exhibition practices in China and the complexities of curating archaeological excavations, preservation, and discoveries in Chinese museums.
