Miranda Wigton-Torres

Miranda Wigton-Torres received her bachelor’s degree in East Asian Languages and Studies with a focus in Korean language from the University of Kansas, while minoring in East Asian art history. This knowledge acts as a foundation for her studies in East Asian art history, as she investigates how both religion and the lives of minority groups effect visual culture. Her primary focus lies in studying women’s bodies and LGBTQ+ peoples in both historical and contemporary artworks within Korea and China. She also has an interest in Buddhist art throughout East Asia, particularly in the various forms of Guanyin due to the 12th-century change to the Bodhisattva’s gender presentation.
