Molly Turley

Molly Turley is an M.A. student in Art History specializing in Japanese art history and visual culture. She received her B.A. in Japanese and Asian Studies from Saint Olaf College and studied abroad at Waseda University in Tokyo. Her research interests center on Edo-period woodblock prints, Japanese visual culture, and the ways images shape experiences of place, identity, and community. She is also interested in modern Japanese visual culture and has conducted research on the symbolism of food in World War II propaganda, examining how visual imagery communicated national identity and wartime ideology. At KU, she is excited to work with Japanese art collections and continue exploring the social, spatial, and cultural dimensions of print and visual media through object-based research and interdisciplinary approaches.
