Biography

Shangyi Lyu is a PhD student in the East Asian art history program at the University of Kansas. Her interests include premodern Chinese material culture and Sino-Japanese artistic exchange. Her article, “Private Secretary as Collector in the Late Qing Period: The Case of Shen Wu,” was published in Newsletter for International China Studies 国际汉学研究通讯 (2022). She received her BA degree in Visual Communication Design and her MA degree in Art History from Zhejiang University, and an additional MA degree in Art History from the University of Kansas.
