Biography

Gigi Wang studies Buddhist art and architecture, with a focus on cave temple architecture and the material culture of the ancient Silk Road. Her publications include “Artistic Integration and Localized Adaptation: An Analysis of Roof Ridge Decorations in the Sinicization Process of the Yungang Grottoes,” published in Religions in 2025, and “The Sinicization Process as Reflected in the Central Stupa-Pillar Caves of the Yungang Grottoes,” accepted for publication in Art History Research Newsletter (藝術史研究通訊), Sichuan University.

Before joining KU, Gigi received her M.A. in Buddhist Studies with Distinction from the University of Hong Kong, where she was awarded the Khyentse Foundation Award for Excellence in Buddhist Studies.
